Who are we?

The foodManitoba Group (TfMG) is a not-for-profit coalition whose core members include: Dairy Farmers of Manitoba, Keystone Agricultural Producers, Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Manitoba Beef Producers, Manitoba Canola Growers, Manitoba Chicken Producers, Manitoba Egg Farmers, Manitoba Mushroom Growers Association, Manitoba Pork, Manitoba Pulse Growers Association, and Manitoba Turkey Producers.

Manitoba is in the unique position of having a cooperative and synergistic working relationship between producer organizations and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI). For more than twenty years, these partners have pooled resources to create public events, a branded (and Canada’s longest running) cooking show called Great Tastes of Manitoba (GTOM), a consumer website (, recipe booklets, and a best-seller cookbook.

What is our mission?

The mission of TfMG is to cultivate a meaningful connection between consumers and the local foods produced from the farms and fields of Manitoba.

Our Partner:

Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI)

Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI) is a provincial government department that works with rural and northern communities to accelerate the greater prosperity and capacity of agricultural producers, other entrepreneurs, industry and rural and northern communities. This is achieved by providing leadership and a range of information, programs and services in support of vibrant rural and northern communities.

Agriculture is an important industry in Manitoba. Not only are Manitoba foods enjoyed by Manitobans, but also they are shipped to more than 177 countries globally. Manitoba’s major agri-food exports to all countries totaled $4.1 billion in 2009.

Agriculture is part of a complete food system. From just over 19,000 Manitoba farms, the primary products and ingredients are grown or produced locally then delivered directly to consumers or sent to the processing and manufacturing sectors for further processing.
